Encoding my rules so I can hold myself accountable.
- No physical domination: Don't hit, don't grab, don't force. It creates vicious negative feedback and trauma.
- No yelling: Yelling and being firm are not the same. Catch yourself yelling and stop.
- No controlling: Let them learn the real consequences instead of creating artificial ones.
- Positive suggestion: Tell them what can be done rather than what can't.
- Right speech: The parent is the example. Speak eloquently, kindly, and truthfully.
- NVC: observe behavior, identify feelings, identify needs, make a request.
- Circle of the way: listen and practice realization (zen)
