food substitutions

Some substitutions you can do without too much effort or change of flavor:

original substitute
peanuts or peanut butter
  • sunflower seed butter (for things like oatmeal/baking)
  • tahini (for stir fries and asian cuisine)
eggs (baking)
  • flax powder + water
  • arrowroot powder + water
soy sauce
  • tamari (gluten free soy sauce)
  • coconut aminos (fermented coconut sap/nectar -- sweeter than soy sauce but usually a good substitue)
