bodhisattva

A Bodhisattva (lit. awakened being) is one who has vowed to awaken or attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings.

In addition to abiding in the "four divine abodes" of loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity, the Bodhisattva cultivates the six paramitas so that they can effectively cut through their own delusion, transform their suffering into wisdom, and become available resources to help others do the same.
