kuro
kuro is an experimental text editor and shell concept in the vein of acme and sam.
It's implemented as a plugin to micro, called ukuro. The goal is to add the executable text and plumbing paradigm from acme to the flexible and lightweight basis that is micro.
The basic concepts from acme that are implemented are:
- Middle-click (or
F5) to execute selected text. Executed text runs in a shell and streams its output to a spool buffer. This is useful especially when writing scripts in your native shell so you can test but also for performing random tasks in your workspace by composing and executing scripts in the spool and directory listing buffers. - Right-click (or
F6) to plumb selected text. Naive plumbing rules mean if the text resolves to a file, directory, or URL, it attempts to open it according to simple heuristics. If no heuristics match, it treats it as text to search in the file. What this means in practice is that, usually, if you right-click on a file or directory, it opens it. And if you right-click on some identifier in a code file, the editor jumps to the next occurence of it, and you can keep right-clicking to cycle through them.
Middle-click, right-click, and F5 will automatically select the word under the cursor if the buffer's selection is empty. F6 doesn't do this, which allows a file listing to be quickly opened in the directory of the open file if the selection is empty (empty selection when plumbing resolves to the current directory).
As mentioned in the readme, the current release of micro is buggy with this plugin, but a bleeding-edge build of micro from the master branch works beautifully.
Another incomplete implementation with xrxs and intended to be coupled to a uxn frontend exists, but it might be too clever for my own good...
